I think it depends on the build. If you're loading up on defense (Dolyak + Watch Yourself + Something Else) then the -2 would be better. If you're just using Dolyak and Watch Yourself, then the +7 (or however high it goes) would be very useful when using the Healing Signet.
I'm no good at the math, but I *think* in some circumstances they would be useful.
Tibby, just so you know... the UW one is a LOT harder. The success stories are slim to none.

im actually thinking of dropping watch yourself for shields up.. and im also gonna have my dolyak up all the time with higher strength..
havent yet desided if im gonna go with an defense or shelter upgrade at my weapon but anyway..
so the way im setting up my defense would it be better to use that +7armor vs piercing or reduse dmg shield?? :P

Called shot, which has a recharge of 3 seconds, goes through "Shields Up". Plus "Shields Up" does not ends near its recharge. So you'll lose the +50 armor from the shout for like 6 seconds.

Well my first run took me more than an hour, but I was also chatting with the guild during that time so...
Dolyak sig really doesn't slow things down that much IMHO since you just have it on while you're attacking them spiders, and, with dolyak on, it only takes like 3 secs to get to the next spider, depending on how far they are from each other.

Runs usually take me 40 minutes with Cleave and Cyclone Axe. Sometimes i just stand in the safe spots and go eat something lol
Also, since i thought about it(after reading this thread), "Shields Up" is good, My build is:
Watchful Spirit, Sprint, Cyclone Axe, Cleave{E}, "Shields Up", Dolyak Signet, "Watch Yourself", and of course Healing Signet! I can post a picture of the build and a random moment in the middle of my run O yea, Shadow Beasts are sissies! LOL

I seem to be getting some whispers about where to stand and making the inital run. Refer to this radar:
The circle I drew is your best bet to avoid the shadow patrols and the skales. Note the large batch of red there, that is a patrol of snarling driftwoods. Kill that group, it makes things a lot easier when trying to sprint by.
I hope this helps some of the problems that people were having.

I usually use Sprint the instant I see Life Transfer pop up on the bar. Although, sometimes there are times when you can sneak by that first group with aggroing anything which is always nice. Hug the east wall.
Anti-social, I'll try to get a vid of the running part. Although, note that the running part can differ with every attempt depending on where they spawn. Or do you mean running to the part where you first start to fight?

I could be wrong, but it seems that the spiders learned a new skill today:
Savage Shot
Sure, it's still possible, but I have to say that I really hate all the effort ANet puts into ruining our fun. I wish they would focus on fixing bugs... I mean hell Word of Healing doesn't even report the correct amount yet...
EDIT: It reports the right amount; at one point it didn't, so my bad.
Still lots of PITA bugs that have never been addressed, like monsters showing up where they aren't really standing

They only seem to use Savage Shot about every three or four runs. Some runs i get pounded with it, others i never see them use it.

I believe this has been discussed before: Spiders are more likely to use savage shot to interupt healing signet if your health is extremely low.
I can't remeber ever being interupted by spiders while farming.
Need Tips:
Of the four times I have been done to FoW, the fastest time I could clear all the driftwood, dryder & spiders is 75min. I'm wondering how people manage to do it in 45min...
My setup is:
12 strength
13 axe
12 tactics
when fighting spiders: 15 strength, 13 axe, 10 tactics
dolyak sig
watch yourself
penetrating blow
cleave
power attack
sprint
healing sig
watchful spirit (counter poison)
Questions: Does sword kill spiders faster than axe?
Is there a special element that the spider is weak against?
Should I stay with zealous physical damage or switch to elemental damage?
Whats the most spiders that anyone was able to handle? (6 max for me)

if you're going to use 3 axe attacks, switch out cleave for eviscerate. the spiders might use melandru's resilience, but you're really cutting down the effectiveness of cleave by adding in another adrenal attack. if anything, drop penetrating blow.
i'm glad that people are starting to use cleave. however, you still have to realize that cleave is most effective when it is the only adrenal attack skill you have. spamming it every 4 hits is what makes cleave shine.
not sure which weapon is faster though. you should try for yourself.
